What to wear to your engagement session | Chicago based photographer

What to wear? What to wear!?

Photo session booked, location chosen, and now you need the perfect outfit. My best advice: wear something you feel comfortable in! Have any mixed feelings about an outfit? NEXT! It's all about what you feel good / yourself in. Keep looking until you find that outfit that really screams you and feels like you.

So you go out searching for a comfortable outfit and can not choose just one! They’re both amazing. Luckily,  I offer 2 outfits in my portrait package, so take advantage of that! Having two outfits in your session allows diversity among your photos and helps if you just can't choose ONE outfit.

For the first outfit, I recommend something on the casual but dressy side. No, I did not say sweat pants, even though they may be casual and comfortable. I mean a nice top/blouse, nice pants/skirt, booties/small heels but don’t get me wrong, jeans are allowed! We are looking for an easy, comfortable, and casual something perfect for easing into the session. Especially if you don’t get professional photos done often!

One down, one to go. Now to spice things up! For the second outfit, I suggest trying something a little bit more dressy but comfortable. Something that you don’t get to wear everyday like a cute dress with flats, or a blouse paired with a skirt and sandals, or romper with heels! When you change into your second outfit we want you to be relaxed and having fun and feeling more comfortable in front of the camera.

Having engagement photos taken is the perfect time for a trial makeup session. Use all the expensive products that are saved for a “special occasion” because this is a special occasion! You’re engaged and you should capture the beauty of your love. Now that you’re all dolled up, you can continue your night with partying or simply a sweet date night!
