One Quick Tip To Choose The Perfect Wedding Dress | Chicago Based Photographer
So you have spent countless hours scrolling through pinterest, watched a marathon of Say Yes To The Dress, and got all of your friends’ opinions but still you have no idea what kind of wedding dress you want? In this article, I will be sharing a tip that will guarantee you choose the perfect wedding dress.
Let’s not dilly dally around, my quick tip is all about body shape. One thing I noticed when women pull dresses to try on is they don’t think about how the dress shape is going to flatter their body. You might say, “well she’s going to try it on to see if it flatters her,” but trying on dozens of dresses is a lot of work and time. Establishing your body shape and knowing what silhouettes flatter you will save you time so you can focus on more important things, like how glittery you want the dress!
How many body shapes are there? Well, every body is different, of course but there are common features that everyone shares. We will be talking about the most common body types: rectangle, pear, hourglass, and apple.
Rectangular body is when shoulders, waistline, and hips are all around the same size, giving more of an athletic look to your body. Having an athletic shape is amazing! You will want to pick dresses that pull attention to your muscular arms, defined shoulders and waist line.
If your hips are wide and your shoulders are narrow then you have a pear shaped body. You want to bring attention upward while highlighting your waistline, back or neck line. So go for the dropped neckline, open back, and styles with belts.
The hourglass. You have a defined waist with your bust and hips being about the same size. Defining your waist and showing off your curves is the key! So pick out the tight dress with a deep v-neck.
Apple of my eye! Apple shaped bodies are well portioned with shoulders that are wider than your hips but your waistline is not very defined. You will want to bring attention to your bust, legs, and or arms. Really, apple shaped bodies can pull off any kind of silhouette without a defined waistline.
I hope this blog was able to offer you a little help to narrow down those dress choices!
