Downtown Chicago Spring Couples Session

As the weather starts to warm up a bit and us fellow Chicagoans break out of hibernation, we are able to embrace all of the beauty that Downtown Chicago has to offer. While many of us start to lose sight of what made us fall in love with this city, the warm weather always makes us remember. The beautiful art, history and architecture that we are surrounded by everyday makes bracing those cold Chicago winters SO incredibly worth it.

With all of that being said, the winter season is slow season for a ton of photographers. Remember when I mentioned the cold, harsh winters? Yeah, that plays a major factor. Once Spring emerges and the flowers begin to bloom, everyone (including me) get’s the case of spring fever. Us photographers know that we are just ITCHING to get back into the swing of things and start photographing beautiful couples all over again. To get those creative juices flowin’ again, I decided to hold a model call over on my Instagram. Which, if you don’t follow me on there…. what are you doing? Check out my IG here! Meg and Carson stepped right up to the plate and I couldn’t have been more excited. Not only to have such a fun loving couple in front of my camera, but to help them with their special announcement.

Downtown Chicago Spring Couples Session

I met up with Meg and Carson at one of my favorite photoshoot locations in Chicago. To some of you it might seem like a regular old Downtown Chicago street, but to me it’s so much more. With all of the beautiful art that surrounds us in Chicago, I can’t help but be in complete and utter shock of its beauty. We started off right by the train station where we were able to get some more fun & casual posing. During these types of sessions, I really like to have the couple act as if I’m not there and just be themselves. Easier said than done, I understand - lol. We then walked a little bit around the city, taking photos really where our hearts desired. One thing about me is that I can find inspiration in just about any setting. Sometimes you have to work with what you got and you’d be surprised at how amazing and beautiful certain locations can actually be.

Now one thing that was incredibly important for Meg and Carson with this couples session, was them in need of some ideas for their special announcement. This special announcement being that they are expecting!!! When Meg told me the news, I pretty much jumped out of my seat. I couldn’t be more excited for them and of course, we had to incorporate some kind of announcement during their session. Meg and Carson brought along matching hats that said “Mom & Dad” on them along with their sonograms to break the news to everyone. I absolutely love being able to help couples document such life changing moments in their lives… it makes my heart feel so warm & fuzzy.

Studio Portraits

For a change of scenery, we decided to head over to this beautiful studio space here in Chicago. While exploring throughout the city has its perks, you don’t always need to be out and about to have a great session. Having a studio session is perfect for several different reasons:

  • You don’t have to worry about weather

  • If you’re shy to shoot in front of people, you get a bit more privacy

  • Less distractions

  • More clean + modern look

So if you’re wondering what are the benefits of having your next session in a studio, those are just a few! If you want to read of some more advantages of having a studio session, Lucky Friday Studios wrote an amazing blog post here that you can refer to! We spent the remainder of their session taking photos in the studio and of course, snagging a few more pics of the upcoming new parents. I am beyond excited for this next step for Meg and Carson and I am even more excited to have been given the honor to capture such beautiful memories.
