Lifestyle Engagement Photos at Broken Bat Brewery
First off, if you’re reading this you’ve probably just got engaged, are planning on being engaged or trying to send a helpful hint to that special someone about GETTING engaged. Either way, congratulations! You’ve made it! When it comes to engagement sessions and planning a wedding, we often think of the glitz & glamour. You know, the sparkles and diamonds and what not. What most of us tend to forget is that just because you’re engaged, doesn’t mean your whole personality needs to do a 180. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Now is the most crucial time to stay grounded and stay true to yourself and values. If you’re not a glam type couple, you don’t need to be one! For Libby and Ray’s engagement session, rather than dressing up and doing something outside of the norm they decided to stick to what they know best. Lifestyle engagement sessions have grown increasingly in popularity and I am NOT mad about it. Here is the perfect example of Libby & Ray’s lifestyle engagement photos at Broken Bat Brewery.
Lifestyle Engagement Photos at Broken Bat Brewery
We started off the day by meeting up at Broken Bat Brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Now at a glance you may just think that this is your ordinary brewery, but in fact this space holds so much character. Broken Bat Brewery is a baseball themed brewery and tap room that brings together those who enjoy locally made craft beers and their love for baseball. In the words of Tim & Dan, the founders of Broken Bat Brewery, “In baseball, when a bat breaks, it’s something unexpected. And that’s essentially what our beer is going to be like, what the brewery experience is going to be: something different, unexpected”.
For Libby and Ray, what was important to them was do something fun and casual. Something that didn’t distract from the real reason why they were celebrating… their engagement! Now even though it was cold, Libby and Ray were such troopers as I insisted we start outside to take some photos. Pro tip: always dress for the occasion. While you may be wanting to dress in those new sandals you bought, be weary of the season and coordinate appropriately. Libby and Ray dressed warm and cozy for their session which was very necessary due to the cold temperatures of the midwest (thank you Wisconsin).
After almost freezing our buns off, we decided now would be a good time to head inside and get some much needed drinks to warm us up. We sat together as Libby and Ray were just talking and enjoying each others company. While yes, it is a fact that having a drink or two can calm your nerves during our sessions that is not the only way. I always encourage my couples to try and relax as much as possible before & during your session. I am a chatterbox at heart, so I make it my mission to make sure that every couple of mine is feeling calm, cool and collected throughout their entire session. That’s why I stress so hard why it’s important to still stick to what you feel comfortable with when choosing an engagement location. Making sure that you are in your element and within the realms of your comfort zone is key in making sure that you feel and look like yourself in your photos. The last thing we want is for you to feel uncomfortable in what you’re wearing or where you are and get back your photos and think “who is that?”. Uh, no thanks! Stick to what works for you and what you feel comfortable with because the rest will fall into place.
We ended Libby and Ray’s session with some fun photos down in the cellar where all the magic happens. The brewing of beer that is… It honestly was the perfect way to end a session and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
